Free Power Wheelchairs – Expert Advice Is Free For The Asking

Have you heard about free power wheelchairs but decided its probably a scam? Guess again my friend, it happens every day. That’s not to say that it’s easy but it can be done.

If you or someone you know has a disability that affects their ability to move from place to place freely, you know how frustrating their lives are. To watch someone go from being healthy and self-sufficient to a being who depends on the kindness of others for even every day tasks is heart breaking. I am often reminded that if you think it’s hard to watch, you should try being on the other side.

Many mobility disabilities are caused by disease or accident, usually auto accidents. To go to bed in absolute health and find out the next day that you may never walk again is emotionally devastating. Talk about having your dreams wiped out! It takes a certain kind of person to overcome a disaster that has the magnitude of this. But it is done. Part of the reason is the immediate application of rehabilitation. The doctor or health care provider immediately enrolls these patients in therapy and rehabilitation. If the prognosis is they will be wheelchair bound, it is relatively easy to get the power chair immediately.

Now think of an elder patient who is slowly losing their abilities. First, there is no rehabilitation for old age. Things just don’t work the way they used to. The changes are more or less gradual unless brought on by something like a stroke. They become more and more dependent on those around them both emotionally and physically. In a strange way, some older folks enjoy the extra attention and stop doing things for themselves they are more than able to do. The other problem with these patients is proving to the insurance company that they have deteriorated to the point where they actually require a mobility scooter to get around.

The actual requirements must be documented. There is a series of steps that need to be taken and an order to taking them if you want your claim to be processed in a timely fashion.
