Free Dieting Advice and Tips

Dieting is the way to go if you want to lose weight effectively. However before you start any diet program, be sure to read the following advice.

Start small and see how it goes

If you make drastic change all out of sudden, it is going to do you more harm than good. Try reducing the size of the portions you eat and giving up regular soda for a week. Once you are comfortable with it, gradually introduce more healthy foods and exercise in your diet.

Drink what you should

What you drink is going to have some impact in your diet regime. Perhaps you are not aware of it — Soda, juices and others soft drinks might contains many calories. If you stop drinking soda, you can cut up to 360 calories per day. That is an eye popping claim but it is true. AVOID diet soda too, the artificial sweeteners are probably not good very good for you & they tend to make some people hungry. The best thing to do when you are thirsty is to drink lots of water. Drink no-fat and low fat milk is also a good idea to keep you healthy.

Eating lesser snacks

Many people find that eating a couple of small snacks throughout the day helps them to make healthy choices at meals. Stick a couple of healthy snacks (carrot sticks, a low fat granola bar, pretzels, or a piece of fruit) in your backpack so that you can have one or two snacks during the day. Adding healthy snacks to your three squares and eating smaller portions when you sit down to dinner can help you to cut calories without feeling deprived. It can also avoid you from binge eating.

Fad or prepackaged diets – Avoid at all cost!

Human body needs a variety of foods to stay healthy – Therefore, it is never a good idea to replace meals for shakes or give up a some food group just because you want to lose weight. Teens, in particular, should stay away from fad diets because they are still growing and need to have those foods so that they can get proper nutrients. Avoid diet pills (even the over-the-counter or herbal variety) unless your doctor prescribes them! Although it does help to lose weight, but not everyone might find it suitable and furthermore, it can be very addictive!

Never say NO to certain food

Some of you might think that certain food such as peanut butter chocolate or creamy ice-cream will make you FAT! So… You tell yourself — I’ll never again eat those foods. Mistake! Big mistake! By making these foods forbidden is sure to make you crave for even more. Besides, your body need to have some fat in order to stay healthy, so giving up on all fatty foods isn’t a good idea. The key to long-term success is making healthy choices most of the time. If you want a piece of cake at a party, go for it! But munch on the carrots or vegetable rather than the chips to balance it out later in the evening.

Replace junk food with vegetables

Eat vegetable instead of junk food. It helps to keep your heart and the rest of your body healthy. Breakfast is very important in your daily life. Don’t ever skip breakfast. Having low fat cereal and milk and a piece of fruit is a much better idea than inhaling a donut as you run to the bus stop or eating no breakfast at all.

If you are full – Stop Eating!

Some people eat when they are bored, lonely, stressed or out of bad habits. One way you can eat less is by eating slowly as it takes about 20 minutes for your brain to recognize how much food is in your stomach. Perhaps you can take some break during your meal and do other thing as it could make you lose appetite. If you are sad or bored — Try to find something else to do like walking around your block, watching your favorite movie or call your loves one. Many people find it’s helpful to keep a diary of what they eat and when. When reviewing their diary later, it can help to identify the emotions they have when they overeat or whether they have unhealthy habits.

Exercise & more exercise

Exercise also has to be part of your plan, but that doesn’t necessarily mean joining a gym. And don’t get stuck in the rut of thinking you have to play a team sport or take an aerobics class – Try a variety of activities from hiking to cycling to rowing until you find ones you like. You can also try to get a cheap but workable treadmill so that when you are watching your favorite programs, hop on and take a walk.
